Palm Desert Residents: Keep Pets Indoors During Grad Fireworks

Heads up, residents. A fireworks display is scheduled as part of Palm Desert High School's graduation ceremony.

PALM DESERT, CA — Residents of Palm Desert and nearby communities are being asked to keep their pets inside Wednesday evening, when a fireworks display is scheduled as part of Palm Desert High School's graduation ceremony.

The high school's graduation ceremony is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. A fireworks expected to last about five minutes is scheduled to begin at the end of the ceremony at 9:50 p.m., according to city of Palm Desert spokesman David Hermann.

The fireworks could frighten pets in the area, and city residents were asked to follow ASPCA recommendations to "keep their dogs and cats at home in a quiet, sheltered and escape-proof area during fireworks displays," Hermann said.
