Palm Springs Festival Of Lights Parade 50th Anniversary Celebration Planned: What To Know

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The 33rd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade will take place next month along Palm Canyon Drive, which will feature floats and a lineup of star-studded grand marshals, it was announced Friday.
The event will start at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 5 with lighting the 22-foot tree at Frances Stevens Park, at 500 N. Palm Canyon Drive. Mayor Ron deHarte, city councilmembers, the parade's grand marshals and Santa Clause will be in attendance.
The holiday parade will be held at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 6, officials said.

This year's grand marshals will include Jada McLean, who stars in Netflix's "America's Sweethearts"; Scheana Shay, star of Vanderpump Rules; former Guns 'N Roses drummer Matt Sorum; "Riverdale" actress Madchen Amick; and local icon Nelda Linsk. In addition, Grammy Award-winning singer Thelma Houston will join the parade as a special guest star.
The parade will feature the 50th anniversary Sunrise Park float, Santa Claus, inflatable balloons, marching bands from Oregon, Arizona, Napa County and others from throughout Southern California.

Officials said performances will include the Changels Choir from Adopt the Arts, the Coachella Valley High School EXLP Dancers and the Cathedral City High School Ballet Folklorico.
The annual celebration will be broadcasted on NBC Palm Springs at 6 p.m. with an appearance by "Full House" actor John Stamos.
"The holiday season shines even brighter in Palm Springs with the Festival of Lights Parade, a dazzling tradition that captures the true spirit and sparkle of the holidays," deHarte said. "We're thrilled to welcome our incredible grand marshals and invitee residents and visitors from across the Coachella Valley to experience the magic along Palm Canyon Drive."
