Palm Trees Burn In Isolated Oasis Area Of Indio: Cal Fire

INDIO, CA — Firefighters Monday were battling a 3- to 5-acre vegetation fire burning in palm trees in an isolated area north of Indio.

Fire crews responded at 11:22 a.m. Monday to a report of a vegetation fire in the area of Washington Street and Coyote Song Way, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

"Three to five acres of palm trees (are) burning in an isolated oasis area," according to fire officials. "(There is) no threat to the surrounding communities."

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. No injuries were reported.
