Park Shooting Prompts Lockdown At Andrew Jackson Elementary School
Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday, a man was shot at North Jackson Park in Indio.

INDIO, CA — A man was shot Monday at a park near Andrew Jackson Elementary School, which was put under a lockdown as a precautionary measure.
Officers responded at 9:50 a.m. Monday to a report of gunshots and found someone injured in North Jackson Park near Crest Avenue and Towne Street, Indio Police Department spokesman Ben Guitron told City News Service.
The man had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Guitron said, and paramedics administered aid.

As a precautionary measure, Guitron said the elementary school located near the park was placed on lockdown.
No suspect information was immediately available as officers remained on the scene and investigated the shooting.
