Pedestrian Struck, Critically Injured Crossing Fred Waring Drive

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department raced to the scene Thursday, where a person was critically injured while crossing the street.

PALM DESERT, CA — One person was critically injured while crossing a Palm Desert intersection Thursday morning, officials say.

Just after 6:30 a.m., a pedestrian crossing the 73500 block of Fred Waring Drive at San Pablo Avenue was struck by a vehicle, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

"The first arriving engine reported one patient in critical condition," they said.

Firefighters treated the patient at the scene and took them to a nearby hospital by ambulance. No additional information was immediately available.

While it was not released if the pedestrian was using the sidewalk at the time of the incident, there are crosswalks at this intersection.
