'Peter And The Starcatcher' Comes To COD Stage, Tickets On Sale

College of the Desert in Palm Desert will feature a student production of the Tony-winning play based on the best-selling novel.

PALM DESERT, CA — College of the Desert (COD) Theatre Department proudly presents its Fall 2023 student performance production of Peter and the Starcatcher.

The community is invited to attend this fantastical prequel to the Peter Pan tale on November 10, 11, 17, or 18 at 7:00 p.m. Daytime showings will take place November 12 and 19 at 3:00 p.m. The cost for general admission is $20. Student tickets are $15. The performance will take place in Theatre Too at the Palm Desert Campus.

This student-led performance of Peter and the Starcatcher is based on the novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. The story follows the humorous backstory of beloved character, Peter Pan, and his arch-nemesis, Captain Hook. The play is set in 1885 during the reign of Queen Victoria and follows the journey of three orphan boys and a smart, witty girl named Molly Aster to the imaginary kingdom of Rundoon. Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair and the bonds of friendship, duty, and love.

Audiences of all ages will enjoy this story which provides more depth and dimension to the boy who never grew up.

Don’t miss the chance to enjoy this Tony-winning play, based on the best-selling novel. Following its publication in 2004, the novel was adapted for the stage by Rick Elice. The on-stage performance debuted at La Jolla Playhouse in 2009 before running on Broadway April 2012 through January 2013.
