Rob Reiner Was Slated To Make Dec. 16 Appearance In Riverside County
Reiner was set to be the featured speaker at the first event of the seventh season of Palm Springs Speaks.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Director Rob Reiner, who was found dead along with his wife in their Brentwood home on Sunday, possibly at the hands of their adult son, had been scheduled to appear in Palm Springs Tuesday as part of a speaker series.
Reiner was set to be the featured speaker at the first event of the seventh season of Palm Springs Speaks, an annual series presenting notable personalities from the worlds of art, entertainment and other categories.
With Reiner's death, the Tuesday event at the Plaza Theatre was canceled.

Reiner, 78, and his 68-year-old wife Michele were allegedly killed by their 32-year-old son Nick, who was arrested and jailed without bail, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
"It is with heavy hearts as we learned of the tragic deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner in their home yesterday, that Palm Springs Speaks and the Friends of the Palm Springs Library announce the cancellation of our event scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre. Our hearts go out to their family and friends during this very difficult time," Julie Warren, a spokesperson of Palm Springs Speaks, said in a statement.

Full refunds will be given to ticket holders, officials said.
Reiner was scheduled to discuss numerous topics at the event, including his film career and his book, "A Fine Line Between Stupid and Clever: The Story of Spinal Tap."
Reiner won two Emmy Awards for his role as Michael `Meathead' Stivic in the televison series "All in the Family." He went on to direct numerous films, including "A Few Good Men," "This is Spinal Tap," "Misery," "Stand By Me" and "When Harry Met Sally."
He was also a dedicated activist who was at one point instrumental in the passage of a tobacco tax in California to fund early childhood development programs.
