Deputies responded to a report of shots fired about 6:40 p.m. Oct. 13 in the 74300 block of El Camino, Sgt. Brad Farwell of the Palm Desert station said.
"During the investigation, Riverside County Sheriff's Dispatch received a 911 call from an individual who was en route to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound," Farwell said.
"Additional officers responded to the local hospital to interview the victim," Farwell said. "The investigation determined the two incidents were related and the shooting occurred during a botched robbery."
