Storm-Related Road Damage Forces 3-Day Closure Of Palm Springs Tram
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is set to close Feb. 12-14.
PALM SPRINGS, CA — The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is set to close Monday to Wednesday for the continuance of road repairs due to damage from the storm.
"This week's storms prevented all permanent repairs from being completed, so additional closure days are now required," tramway spokesman Greg Purdy wrote in a statement. "We regret the inconvenience this is causing our visitors and appreciate their understanding."
Purdy said that the Tramway will operate as normal until Sunday and is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. next Thursday after the brief closure.

The tramway initially closed Feb. 2 due to road damage caused by the ongoing storm, Purdy said last week. It was able to reopen for the weekend before closing again for two days.
Since 1963, the tramway has carried visitors 2 1/2 miles from Palm Springs to the San Jacinto Mountains, a trip that takes about 10 minutes. At an elevation of more than 8,500 feet, Mountain Station is an entry point to more than 50 miles of hiking trails.
