Targeted DUI Operation Planned By Palm Desert Deputies

The operation will take place from 4 p.m. Thursday until 2 a.m. Friday.

PALM DESERT, CA — Deputies based out of the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station will be conducting a targeted operation beginning Thursday, looking for motorists who are driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.

The operation will take place from 4 p.m. Thursday until 2 a.m. Friday at undisclosed locations.

"Impaired driving is preventable," Deputy Paul Abrego said. "It’s a choice. If you’ve been drinking or taking drugs that impair, make the right choice by finding a sober driver or alternate transportation to take you places."

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol and illegal narcotics. Marijuana, as well as some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs, can interfere with driving.

"Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving," the law enforcement agency said.
