Thunderstorms Deliver Flash Floods, Lightning

Cities in the effected Coachella Valley area were Palm Desert, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Springs, Coachella and Cathedral City.

COACHELLA VALLEY, CA — Thunderstorms rolled into the Coachella Valley Friday, flooding some streets.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the valley just before 9 a.m. It expired at 7 p.m.

Cities in the effected Coachella Valley area were Palm Desert, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Springs, Coachella and Cathedral City.

The weather service reported .47 inches of rain at the Desert Hot Springs station, .08 inches of rain at the Indio station and 0.04 inches of rain at the Palm Springs Airport station.

KESQ shared photos and videos of Dillon Road near Desert Edge flooded along with videos from viewers in Palm Springs, which showed hail and a lightning-struck palm tree.
