Train Hits Electric Lines, Knocks Out Power To Nearly 1,000
Officials say a Union Pacific train hit primary conductor lines near Highway 111 just north of Dr. Carreon Boulevard.
INDIO, CA — A freight train hit electrical lines in Indio this morning, causing a power outage affecting nearly 900 customers, authorities said.
The outage was reported just before 8 a.m., affecting 878 Imperial Irrigation District customers.
Agency spokesman Robert Schettler said the outage was caused by a Union Pacific train hitting primary conductor lines near Highway 111 just north of Dr. Carreon Boulevard, but had no other details.

Around 10:30 a.m., IID announced that power was restored and advised any customers still without electricity to check their main breaker or call 1- 800-303-7756.
