Two Men Wounded in Cathedral City Shooting

Two men suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening wounds in a shooting early Saturday in Cathedral City, police said.

Officers responded at 1:13 a.m. to the 33300 block of Pueblo Trail to investigate a call of shots fired and found the victims, one 23 and the other 19, suffering from gunshot wounds, said Cathedral City police Sgt. Alberto Ruiz.

"The subjects were conscious and it appeared the wounds were not life-threatening," he said.

Both men, who are from Cathedral City, gave statements to police before being taken to Desert Regional Hospital, Ruiz said.

Investigators learned a male suspect walking northbound on Pueblo Trail pulled out a handgun and fired at a group of males and females sitting around a table in the driveway of a residence before running off and fleeing in an unknown type of vehicle, Ruiz said.

The suspect had his face covered with a jacket or hoodie so a description was not available, Ruiz said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to contact Cathedral City police at (760) 770-0303.
