Two Rescued From Flooded RivCo River Beds Amid Tuesday Storm

During the winter storm that blasted Riverside County, firefighters attended trapped drivers who became trapped in fast-moving floodwater.

RANCHO MIRAGE, CA — Firefighters rescued a person whose car became stuck in the Whitewater riverbed in Rancho Mirage, authorities said Wednesday.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department firefighters responded to a report of a person in a sedan stuck in the riverbed at Monterey Avenue and Avenue Las Palmas a little after 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

The person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to the fire department.

Earlier in the day, a woman was rescued by the fire department after getting stranded in the Santa Ana River Bottom on an island surrounded by fast moving water.

The incident was reported around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Avenue.

The department said the woman suffered minor injuries.
