Victim In Palm Desert 3-Vehicle Collision Identified

A 26-year-old woman was killed in a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Palm Desert, authorities said.

PALM DESERT, CA — Authorities have identified a 26-year-old woman who was killed in a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Palm Desert, authorities said.

The Riverside Coroner's Office identified the victim on Thursday as Stephany Reyes of Indio.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Palm Desert station responded to a "major injury" collision on Country Club Drive shortly after 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies observed three vehicles in the westbound lanes, with one driver pronounced dead at the scene, according to the department. Arriving paramedics took another driver to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Palm Desert Traffic Team investigators revealed one vehicle was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, striking the two other vehicles heading the opposite direction.

It was not clear whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, the department said.

A temporary road closure of the intersections of Country Club Drive with El Dorado Drive and Desert Falls Drive remained during the investigation.
