Some 87.3 million made purchases online last year compared with the 81.7 million who braved shopping in person.
What's more, in recent years, Black Friday sales have begun earlier, giving shoppers time to spread out their purchases instead of attempting to grab everything in one chaotic go. However, whether this means the crowds will be less hectic this year remains to be seen.
Before we get to WalletHub's list — the Shops at Palm Desert will add a playful twist to the holiday rush with its Black Friday Shopping Spree Passport Challenge on Nov. 28. From 5 to 7 p.m., shoppers can pick up an event passport at Main Court, visit participating stores to collect stamps, and return their completed booklet by 7 p.m. for a chance to win a $500 gift card pack to The Shops. No purchase is required, and the winner will be announced on Dec. 2 via text and email.
The challenge takes place alongside the mall’s Black Friday Music Show, creating a festive atmosphere with live performances, children’s crafts, refreshments, giveaways, and a holiday-themed photo booth. Designed as a free and family-friendly way to explore the mall, the event encourages visitors to support local retailers while kicking off the start of the season.
