A woman was involved in a crash early Monday at Dinah Shore Drive and Key Largo Avenue and she was accused of texting while driving and DUI, a sheriff's sergeant said in a statement.
Deputies responded about 12:30 a.m. Sept. 23 to a single vehicle non-injury traffic crash near Dinah Shore and Key Largo, where the driver of a Silver Honda Civic was westbound on Dinah Shore Drive, Sgt. Eichelt of the Rancho Mirage Police Department said.
"The driver was texting while driving, and struck the center median," Eichelt said. "This caused the vehicle to travel over the curb, and come to rest inside the sandy median. The driver was contacted, and displayed objective symptoms of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were administered, and refused."
The driver, identified as Sandra Santoyo Hernandez, 31, of Cathedral City, was arrested and booked the Indio Jail for driving while under the influence of alcohol, Eichelt said.
Henandez was cited and released, according to inmate records. She has a court date in November in Indio.
