Woman ID'd As Palm Desert Crash Victim

A 26-year-old Indio woman was identified as the victim in the fatal Country Club Drive collision late Wednesday.

PALM DESERT, CA — A multi-vehicle traffic collision killed a driver Wednesday night, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

Stephany Reyes, 26, of Indio, was the victim of the fatal crash, the Riverside County Coroner's Office shared after notification of her next of kin.

Shortly after 9:45 p.m., three westbound vehicles collided on Country Club Drive and Palm Desert Sheriff's Station. Deputies responded to a "major injury" collision, the department spokesperson said.

Reyes, named as one of the drivers in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the statement. Arriving paramedics transported another driver to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The department stated that Palm Desert Traffic Team investigators concluded that one vehicle appeared to be eastbound in westbound lanes, striking the two other vehicles heading in the opposite direction. The investigation was unable to determine if drugs or alcohol factored into the crash.

During the proceedings, Country Club Drive's intersections with El Dorado Drive and Desert Falls Drive were temporarily closed.
