- Early Tuesday, a homeless man was shot by a 17-year-old boy after he attempted to intervene in a domestic violence dispute. Officers responded to a gas station on the 3600 block of East Ramon Road at around 12:40 a.m. to reports of a physical altercation between multiple people and shots fired. The man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital. The teen was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of attempted murder, resisting arrest, and being a minor in possession of a firearm. (Patch)
- A court has overturned Riverside County's approval of the Villages of Lakeview housing development, agreeing with environmental groups that the county's environmental review was inadequate. The project has been in the works for almost 20 years, with the latest approval being a smaller development footprint of 8,725 housing units in December 2017. However, environmental groups have long opposed the project, citing concerns over its impact on water supply and potential damage to the nearby San Jacinto Wildlife Area, among other issues.
