Motorists to expect traffic delays during work on Palm Springs bridge project (kesq.com) — Expect significant lane and overnight road closures on South Palm Canyon Drive in early and mid-January as crews install a new gas line for the South Palm Canyon Bridge Project. One lane will stay open during daytime work, but full nighttime closures will detour traffic to Belardo Road while construction continues into late next year.
   

2. ICE activity reported in Palm Springs, Indio on Friday (desertsun.com) — Immigration enforcement by federal agents was reported across the Coachella Valley on Friday, including visible ICE activity in Palm Springs that local police say they are not assisting. Social media posts described multiple enforcement locations from Palm Springs to Indio and showed an apparent arrest following a traffic collision involving ICE agents in Indio, leaving many residents anxious and looking for guidance.
   

3. Update: Earthquake of 3.2 magnitude registered near Anza, CA on Dec. 19 (sacbee.com) — A small 3.2‑magnitude earthquake near Anza Friday morning was felt as weak shaking by some residents in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert and La Quinta, according to USGS reports. Officials are reminding locals how to stay safe during future quakes, including drop‑cover‑hold guidance and what to watch for after shaking stops.
   

4. Desert Healthcare District and Foundation awards over $1M in grants (kesq.com) — A Palm Springs–based health district is directing more than $1 million in new grants to nonprofits providing mental and behavioral health services for Coachella Valley youth and families. Additional funding will support Desert Cancer Foundation and Vision to Learn, with projects running through 2027 and aiming to expand counseling, crisis response, and support programs across nearby communities.
   

5. Lisa Middleton to Receive DAP Health's Community Service Award at The Chase (palmspringslife.com) — Palm Springs residents will see former mayor Lisa Middleton honored with DAP Health’s Community Service Award at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards at the Palm Springs Convention Center on February 21. The profile traces her journey from Bell Gardens to becoming a history-making transgender leader in Palm Springs, highlighting her deep involvement with local boards, public service, and advocacy for an inclusive community.
