Construction Begins On Dream Hotel & Residences In Palm Springs
For years, progress on the $200 million project has stalled.

PALM SPRINGS, CA — Construction is officially underway on a long-delayed project to bring a luxury hotel, condos and townhomes to a 7.8-acre site in Palm Springs.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday for the Dream Hotel & Residences at the corner of Amado Road and Avenida Caballeros, near the Palm Springs Convention Center.
The project is expected to be completed in 2027 and will include a 155-luxury room hotel tower, spa, fitness centers, restaurants, bars, 25 hotel/condo residences, three townhomes, and two residential towers with more than 50 condos.

For years, construction on the $200 million project has stalled. In 2017, a groundbreaking ceremony was finally held for the Dream, but construction challenges and delays continued plaguing the project.
An underground parking facility was partially erected, but little work followed due in part to design concerns. Finally, in 2023, the Palm Springs City Council approved an amended project plan that called for a height reduction on buildings near an existing residential community.

In announcing Tuesday's groundbreaking ceremony, the city called the "symbolic construction phase kickoff" of the hotel and residences "extra special."
Artists' renderings of the sprawling Dream campus show a mixed-use hotel-residential property with courtyards, pools and outdoor dining areas spread throughout. Scrims, screens, and breezeblock walls are incorporated to temper strong desert light and heat.
It's unclear what Dream customers can expect to pay for a hotel room or what permanent residents might shell out for a condo or townhome.
The Dream development team includes Lauri Kibby, entrepreneur and managing partner of the real estate investment firm Selene Brighthouse, along with Eran Nornberg.
