- Supporters are seeking reparations for hundreds of Black and Mexican families that were forcibly evicted from the Palm Springs Section 14 neighborhood in the 1950s and 1960s. It was estimated that nearly 200 homes were destroyed in this mass eviction. A community meeting will be held yesterday to speak about efforts to receive reparations. (Spectrum News 1)
- Investigators are searching for the cause of a house fire in Desert Hot Springs on late Saturday afternoon. A family was inside the home when the blaze started. It is reported that one firefighter had minor injuries. (kuna noticias y kuna radio)
- The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is causing major traffic jams as it kicked off over the weekend. The traffic is expected to continue over two more sold-out weekends of the festival. Patrol officers will be available on the freeway and intersections to help with delays and road closures, in addition to expected gusty winds. (KTLA Los Angeles)
