Here are the top three stories today in Palm Springs:

  1. On Tuesday in nearby Indio, a golfer who was participating in a Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) championship and one of the association's officials rescued a driver from a car that was submerged in a nearby canal. Golfer Brett Fox was in the middle of playing his round when he and SCGA official Jeff Ninneman jumped into the canal that runs through the course after a car drove into the canal and quickly became submerged. With the help of people on the bank of the canal, the rescuers were able to pull the driver to safety, and the man was taken to a hospital in stable condition. (Desert Sun)
  2. The Margaritaville Resort Palm Springs will be transforming its Lone Palm Pool into "Cap'n's Cove" for a special pool party for adults 21 years old and up to celebrate the 60th birthday of Cap'n Crunch, the mascot of the cereal brand to which he lends his name. The event will take place on Apr. 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will feature cereal-inspired brunch items, drinks, and themed outfits as well as appearances by musician Reneé Rapp and DJ PEE .WEE (aka Anderson .Paak). (KTLA)
  3. A fire in North Palm Springs on Tuesday destroyed two trailers, two outbuildings, and one vehicle. Fire crews arrived at around 11:10 p.m. at the 64000 block of Douglas Way to respond to a report of a structure fire. A company officer was the first to arrive at the scene where two trailers and two outbuildings were already burning, and although crews were able to extinguish the fires, the trailers, structures, and a vehicle were all destroyed in the blaze. The cause of the fire has not yet been identified. (kuna noticias y kuna radio)
