📰 Here are the top stories in Palm Springs today:

  1. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department lost track of an inmate and needs your help recapturing him. The man has several tattoos that should make it relatively easy, including “‘STARICKA’ on the upper part of his back, a rose with 'Mom' underneath it on the left side of his neck, and a swastika near his left armpit.” (Uken Report)
  2. If you or someone you know needs diapers and baby wipes, connect with the Palm Springs Public Library beginning Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The facility will hand out the items that Baby2Baby donated. “Diapers can continue to be requested once a week each Thursday morning on a first-come, first-served basis.” (NBC)
  3. Planning for the 4th annual Juneteenth Celebration is underway. Palm Springs’ Black History Committee, so far, has two free events on the calendar. On June 16, the James O. Jessie Desert Highland Unity Center will host a Royal Pageant at 5 p.m. The next day, there’ll be a Celebration of Culture. (KESQ)
  4. Southern California Edison (SCE) is planning some outages in the area. The first one is this Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. near N. Via Monte Vista and Via Las Palmas. Other outages are next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. (SCE)
  5. The Palm Springs Photo Festival is scheduled to run from Oct. 9 to 13. You have the opportunity to attend several master classes that cover topics such as “Expressing Architecture & Interiors” and “Creating Cohesive Bodies of Work.” Registration went live on Saturday.
