Palm Springs International Airport prepares for busy holiday season (kesq.com) — If you’re flying out of Palm Springs International Airport this week, expect big crowds and plan to arrive early, especially between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Officials anticipate more than 55,000 departing passengers through Dec. 28 and urge travelers to budget 90 minutes to two hours for check-in, security, and parking.
   

2. Barry Manilow Reveals Lung Cancer Diagnosis (patch.com) — Palm Springs residents who follow Barry Manilow will want to know the 82-year-old singer, who lives much of the year in the city, has revealed an early-stage lung cancer diagnosis and upcoming surgery. He recently postponed McCallum Theatre benefit concerts in the Coachella Valley but says doctors don’t expect the cancer has spread and he’s avoiding chemo and radiation for now.
   

3. Legendary Singer Has Lung Cancer 87 Truckers Nabbed In Immigration Crackdown (patch.com) — A beloved 82-year-old singer who calls Palm Springs home has been diagnosed with lung cancer after doctors investigating bronchitis found a spot on his lung. The regional news roundup also highlights a major immigration crackdown on truckers, a Coachella Valley Firebirds Teddy Bear Toss, and potentially dangerous Christmas storm conditions across Southern California.
   

4. Looking back at Impact Grants in 2025 (kesq.com) — Palm Springs–area residents helped drive more than $186,000 in Impact Grants this year, including support for free military shuttles between Twentynine Palms and Palm Springs Airport. Other grants backed homeless seniors, children’s cancer care, music therapy for neurological conditions, addiction recovery for women, and expanded services in Mecca and Desert Hot Springs, with more funding planned for 2026.
