Recovery Fund Launched For Victims Of Palm Springs Terrorist Attack

The following is a news release from the city of Palm Springs:

PALM SPRINGS, CA — The City of Palm Springs is launching the Palm Springs Recovery Fund, a targeted City initiative to assist business owners impacted by the May 17 terrorist attack with rebuilding and financial recovery. The City Council has allocated $50,000 to the Palm Springs Recovery Fund.

"The Palm Springs City Council and I are unwavering in our commitment to our local businesses. That's why we've allocated $50,000 to directly invest in and help our small businesses not just reopen, but truly rebuild and thrive after the May 17th attack," said Mayor Ron deHarte. “We are here to ensure the heart of our economy, our small businesses, can get back on their feet stronger than ever."

The Palm Springs Recovery Fund is designed to cover expenses that are not reimbursed by insurance or other community recovery programs. Examples of eligible costs include repairs to damaged windows, doors, framing, roofs, cosmetic damage, and capital losses.

“The City of Palm Springs remains committed to helping our local businesses recover and move forward,” said Scott Stiles, City Manager. “Our community thrives when our businesses thrive, this fund is designed to support them as they rebuild and return to doing what they do best.”

All businesses located within the Disaster Overlay Zone are eligible to apply, subject to available funding. In addition, affected businesses may benefit from reduced permitting fees and other support services offered by the City.
