🍷 Hobby Poll!
Everybody has hobbies. If time and money were no object this summer, which new hobby would you like to learn or take up? We have some preliminary results.
- 20 percent - traveling
- 9.9 percent - flying
- 6.7 percent - ballroom dancing
- 3.3 percent - fly-fishing, crocheting, Mahjong, basket making, dog training & showing, surfing, watercolor, pickleball, line dancing, pottery, reading, horseback riding, wine collecting, car collecting, playing guitar, kickboxing, golf, roller skating
One of you asked a great question: “Does anyone have photography as a hobby now?” With our new phones, there’s no longer the need for a dark room and all the accouterments that used to come with the hobby.
📰 Here are the top stories today in Palm Springs:
- The police responded to reports of shots fired in the 64000 block of 16th Avenue. They found a victim who died due to gunshot wounds. The call came in right around 5 a.m. on Tuesday. (NBC)
- An arrest was made in the January drugging and sexual assault of a Florida man at his Palm Springs hotel room. The victim intended to participate in a dating app hookup and was instead attacked. Officers arrested a 56-year-old man from Desert Hot Springs and booked him into the Indio detention center on $55,000 bail. (KESQ)
- Will Rollins lost his run for the U.S. House against Ken Calvert; however, he isn’t giving up. He’s announced his candidacy for the 41st Congressional District and plans to make it happen in 2024. It’ll be a presidential election cycle, which means that lots of younger and progressive voters are coming out. (eBar)
- Kylie Jenner dropped $3.25 million on a vacation property in Palm Springs. However, passersby are questioning her taste. It features an industrial design style that lacks the expressive nature of brutalism. Those having seen pics call the structure “soulless” “like Costco.” (yahoo! news)
- On June 2, Palm Springs Stadium and the Desert's Hometown Team will host the opening night baseball game. Afterward, you are invited to stay for the fireworks show. Plan for the extravaganza to begin right around 9:30 p.m. (City of Palm Springs)
