📰 Here are the top stories today in Palm Springs:

  1. Last week, a man was found dead inside his home in the 1600 block of East Palm Canyon Drive. Something must not have been looking right to authorities, because they scheduled an autopsy to determine if the death “resulted from a criminal act.” The police department intends to release more information once it has the results. (Patch)
  2. A 16-year-old Cathedral City High School student allegedly threatened to shoot students at the school. Tips allowed police officers to arrest the juvenile before anything could happen. “No weapons were located nor involved in the threats, and no specific students were directly named or threatened in this case.” (Uken Report)
  3. A shooting did happen off Covey Street in the north part of the city. However, the details are sketchy. We know that there are reports of two gunshot victims. Moreover, one victim apparently self-transported to the hospital. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, but we still don’t know “if there is one shooting suspect or more.” (KESQ)
  4. Students at Julius Corsini Elementary School probably rejoiced on Monday when a power outage led to an early dismissal. However, Southern California Edison had the power back on by 10:45 a.m., and school will be back in session as planned. (My News LA)
  5. So far, the Homeless Navigation Center has received $28 million. Now, the team behind the McCarthy Road project is asking for more money. Construction bids have come in higher than expected, and the money is needed to stay on track. The city council is considering allocating “$5,000,000 from the Fiscal Year 2024 General Fund Budget.” Riverside County has committed an additional $3 million. (KESQ)
