Here are the top three stories today in Palm Springs:

  1. VillageFest will be celebrating its 31 birthday tomorrow with cupcakes being given out while supplies last. Free cupcakes will be given out on the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon way at 6 p.m. As always, attendees are welcome to continue the celebration with live entertainment and a street fair running through the evening. VillageFest runs every Thursday from 6-10 p.m. and 7-11 p.m. during the summer. (MyNewsLA.com)
  2. The College of the Deserts plans to have a series of public meetings to discuss the schematic plans for the Palm Springs campus every month from now until June, starting today (Mar. 22) at 9:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend these meetings at the COD Multi-Purpose Room Donald and Peggy Cravens Student Services Center at the Palm Desert campus; the meetings will also be available via Zoom link on the school's website following the meetings. Today's meeting will review the overall plan and brief on the vision, with construction projected to be complete by December 2026. (KESQ)
  3. Three people were arrested just after Sunday nearby in Palm Desert. Riverside County Sheriff's deputies pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop at Berkey Drive and Varner Road, where they noticed a firearm in the vehicle. Upon further investigation, additional weapons were found — some determined to be possessed illegally and one stolen. All three of these individuals were arrested on the scene. (KESQ)
