Man Arrested After Menlo Park Fire Is Considered Arson
Arson investigators have determined that a suspicious 13-acre grass fire at a homeless camp in Menlo Park last Monday was set intentionally.
MENLO PARK - Arson investigators have determined that a suspicious 13-acre grass fire at a homeless encampment in Menlo Park last Monday was set intentionally, according to police.
Firefighters arrived at 3:37 p.m. March 28, at the Kavanaugh Tract, adjacent to Adams Drive and the Menlo Business Park, and determined that the fire had started at a homeless encampment.
They described the fire as unusual due to the time of year.

Investigators now believe it was set deliberately, according to a statement issued Wednesday.
They identified the suspect as 35-year-old Sergio Anguianolopez of East Palo Alto.

Anguianolopez was arrested Wednesday in the vicinity of Purdue and Illinois avenues in East Palo Alto, according to police.
The case remains under investigation.
