Monday Afternoon Highway 101 Crash In Palo Alto Kills 1

PALO ALTO, CA — A vehicle overturned after the driver made an unsafe turning movement trying to avoid a minor two-vehicle collision, the CHP said.

One person died late Monday afternoon on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Palo Alto, officials with the California Highway Patrol said.

A minor two-vehicle collision occurred at about 4:20 p.m. just north of Embarcadero Road, CHP Officer Pablo Rios said.

A third vehicle tried to avoid the collision and made an unsafe turning movement, causing the vehicle to roll over. One person inside was ejected and died, Rios said.

Three lanes are blocked and no estimate for when they will reopen has been made. Two lanes are open.
