PALO ALTO, CA -- If you're interested in forming or joining a Neighborhood Watch program, or want to learn how to prepare for a natural or man-made disaster, the City of Palo Alto has a three-hour course coming up that you may want to participate in.

The City of Palo Alto’s Office of Emergency Services is hosting free Block Preparedness Coordinator (BPC) training from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 23, at the Cubberley Community Center (Room H-1) at 4000 Middlefield Road.

The BPC program is a collaborative effort to ensure that residents, businesses, and other groups can participate with the city in disaster preparation, response, and recovery. Attendees can learn how to get prepared for any disaster, from earthquakes to floods to terrorism, and to help your neighbors. Neighborhood Watch is just one component of the program.
