Palo Alto Subway Sandwich Shop Robbery Under Investigation

PALO ALTO, CA — Authorities are seeking the public’s help in the investigation of a Palo Alto Subway sandwich shop robbery Monday night, police said.

Officers at around 8:36 p.m. Monday responded to the report of a strong-arm robbery that had just occurred at the Charleston Shopping Center Subway restaurant at 3962 Middlefield Road, police said.
Arriving officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Officers determined that the victim, a woman in her 40s, was reconciling the cash register at the end of her shift when the suspect entered the shop, greeted her in Spanish, and demanded all the money, police said.
The suspect went behind the counter, took the cash, and ran from the store, police said.
The suspect was last seen heading southbound on Middlefield Road on foot, police said.
No one else was in the store at the time of the robbery.
The suspect is described as a 45-year-old man about six feet tall with a skinny build who was wearing a black and red jacket and dark-colored pants during the robbery, police said.
The case is under investigation, police said.
