Party In The Park To Celebrate Two Palo Alto Grand Openings

Rinconada Park and the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo are renovated and ready.

PALO ALTO, CA — A Party in the Park is coming to Palo Alto on Saturday to celebrate two grand openings: Rinconada Park and the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo.

The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and speaker’s program to honor the renovations for both the park and the zoo — and, of course, free ice cream.

Free tours of the zoo will be available, as will animals for viewing.

The new building is 15,085 square feet, nearly twice the size of the old building. It contains a new museum and education building, a new outdoor zoo and an upgraded parking lot. The museum offers hands-on science classes for approximately 18,000 students in about 60 local elementary schools, according to its website.

The park’s renovations include a new playground, picnic area and elliptical machines and stationary bikes.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rinconada Park JMZ Entrance in between the museum and Girl Scout House. People are encouraged to walk or bike to the event as the parking lot will be closed to accommodate food trucks.
