Person Fatally Hit On Caltrain Tracks In Mountain View

The death is Caltrain's first fatality on the tracks this year.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Emergency crews are in Mountain View where a person was fatally hit by a train on Monday morning, according to Caltrain.

The collision was reported shortly before 11 a.m., when southbound train 112 hit someone on the tracks near Rengstorff Avenue, according to a release from Caltrain. There were 30 people onboard the train, but no passengers were injured.

The name of the person who died was not released. The death is Caltrain's first fatality on the tracks this year.

Emergency personnel are at the scene and the northbound track has been reopened at restricted speed, according to a Caltrain spokesman.
