Silicon Valley Mogul Peter Thiel Backs Liz Cheney Foe: Report

The venture billionaire and ex-President Donald Trump are teaming up to support Wyoming Republican Harriet Hageman, Politico reports.

PALO ALTO, CA — Silicon Valley mogul Peter Thiel is teaming up with former President Donald Trump to bolster the candidacy of a rising star in far-right politics.

The venture billionaire and the twice-impeached ex-President will co-host two fundraisers next month in support of Wyoming Republican Harriet Hageman, Politico reports.

Hageman is challenging incumbent Republican Liz Cheney for the Cowboy State’s lone congressional seat.

Cheney is among a handful current Republican officeholders who have publicly disputed the former president’s baseless claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential elections.

Cheney, along with Daniel Kinzinger (R-Ill.), sit on the Jan. 6 Select Committee investigating the Capitol insurrection.

Thiel will host a fundraiser for the Cheney foe at his Miami home on Jan.26 and a separate event backing a pro-Hageman political action committee later that day, the report said.

Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle are among the event’s listed guests, according to the report.

Thiel emerged as a Trump ally in the 2016 campaign and the tech investor and Stanford graduate has since become one of the GOP’s most coveted donors, the report said.

The co-founder of PayPal and Palantir Technologies still has a cult following in Silicon Valley.

He is described in a New York Magazine profile as a Silicon Valley’s “true idol.”

“The single person whom tech’s young aspirants and millennial moguls most seek to flatter and to emulate, the cult leader of the cult of disruption.”
