Text "SB50" to 888777 in the Bay Area, and you'll get safety, weather, traffic and emergency alerts as Denver and Carolina set to face off.

Super Bowl hype begins in earnest following Sunday’s AFC and NFC championship games, with Denver and Carolina advancing to Santa Clara.

For many in the Bay Area, that means dealing with added security and congestion surrounding Super Bowl 50 and the events leading up to the contest.

To keep up with safety, weather, traffic and emergency alerts leading up to and during the Super Bowl, you can opt-in to receive text based updates.

The service is being offered through a collaboration of the Bay Area’s Joint Information Center and Nixle. Current Nixle subscribers can also choose to receive Super Bowl specific updates.

Once the Super Bowl is over, the text group will be deleted.
