
One 18-year-old will spend his "gap year" raising money for charity.
A native Californian, but resident of the United Kingdom, Oliver "Ollie" Plunket will stop by the Health Care System’s Fisher House at Veteran Affairs Hospital in Palo Alto to visit with the families of wounded service members on Monday, June 10 from 10 to 11 a.m. Plunket's visit is part of his 24,000 mile motorcycle ride from Argentina to Alaska—14 countries—to raise at least $150,000 for wounded military and Veterans.
The funds raised by Plunket's seven-month trip will support the Fisher House UK in Birmingham, United Kingdom, a two-story, 18-bedroom house that provides home for the families of injured troops receiving medical care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The young man comes from a military family and plans to serve in the British Army. Before starting his university year, he decided to take a year off and devote himself to this fundraiser.
Plunket plans to stop off at American Fisher Houses along his route and visit with injured military members and their families. He's already made stops in San Diego, Los Angeles and after Palo Alto, he plans to stop in Seattle.
