A woman died after her motorcycle went off a road in Palo Alto, struck a tree and she was thrown into a ravine, police say.
PALO ALTO, CA -- A woman died after her motorcycle went off a road in Palo Alto, struck a tree and she was thrown into a ravine, police said.
Palo Alto police received a report at about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon that a fatal crash had occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on Skyline Boulevard about a mile south of the intersection with Page Mill Road.
Investigators determined that a woman in her 30s on a 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 was traveling south on Skyline Boulevard when she rounded a corner, went off the road, struck a tree and landed in the ravine, according to police.

A motorist behind the motorcyclist saw a cloud of dust after rounding the same corner and notified authorities. The woman, whose name is not yet being released by the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office, was pronounced at the scene, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Palo Alto police.
