2020 U.S. Census Results: Changing Demographics Of Palos Verdes
The 2020 census shows an America that is becoming more diverse, with the Hispanic/Latino population growing faster than any other.
PALOS VERDES, CA — The last 10 years have marked a dramatic shift in the demographic makeup of the U.S., with a marked shrinkage of the white population and the rapid growth of the Hispanic/Latino community.
These changes were reflected in Rnacho Palos Verdes, where the share of the white population fell by 12.19 percent while the Hispanic population grew by 27.53 percent. The Asian population grew by 11.89 percent and the Black/African American population increased by 9.92 percent, respectively.
Palos Verdes also showed an increase in the number of people who identified themselves as multiracial, although the reasons are complex. Experts say the increase reflects changes in the way people identify themselves as well the number of children born to parents of mixed races or ethnicities, along with changes in the wording of census forms themselves.
