If you're looking for something to do on Labor Day, here are five events happening in the South Bay.

PALOS VERDES, CA — Happy Labor Day — a day when most people get the day off, and white pants need to be retired until next spring.

The idea for the Labor Day holiday was created by the labor movement, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (who would have guessed?). The holiday is dedicated to the "social and economic achievements" of workers who contribute to America's strength, prosperity and well-being.

If you're looking for something to do on your first vacation day since Fourth of July, here are five things happening on Labor Day in the South Bay:

1. Fiesta Hermosa

Fiesta Hermosa is known as Southern California's largest Arts & Crafts Festival. Come enjoy food, craft boots, a carnival and the beer and wine garden from Saturday, August 31 to Monday, September 2 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Downtown Hermosa Beach.

2. Labor Day Kids Paint Day Out at Paint n' Pour

From Paint n' Pour: For kids 4 and up. Drop the kids for 3 hours and have a morning off! Class includes an instructed painting, crafts, and playtime with friends! This also includes access to playroom for play breaks. *Class limited to 15 kids so book early to grab a spot! Kids will go home with uniquely theirs 11x14 canvas!

3. End Of Summer Labor Day Weekend BBQ

4. History Hiking Tour Of Palos Verdes

Hosted by South Bay Trekkers: "The entire hike is a 5 mile loop and will take approximately 2 hours. It’s a beginner to intermediate hike - with a few moderate elevation climbs at the beginning and the end, it’s recommended to wear good hiking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, bring a bottle of water and don’t forget your cameras!"
