NWS Issues Wind Advisory

A wind advisory is issued when wind speeds are expected to exceed 35 mph.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the Los Angeles County coast, including the South Bay, on Sunday.

The advisory, which is issued when wind speeds are expected to exceed 35 mph, began at 3 a.m. Monday and will continue through 3 a.m. Tuesday, according to the NWS.

The weather service predicts northeast winds of 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph in the morning; however, by afternoon, wind speeds will increase to 20-30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. The winds will gradually diminish Monday night.

"Gusty winds could topple trees and power lines and create hazardous driving conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles," forecasters said. "Use extra caution."

In the South Bay, forecasters predict temperatures will top out in the high-50s, with lows in the 40s.
