Palos Verdes Crime: Hot Iron Causes Fire

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning July 9 through last Monday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station did not release its crime statistics for Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield this week.

Palos Verdes Estates

Drugs

July 8; 800 block of Paseo del Mar
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 2:20 p.m. and cited a passenger for possession of drug paraphernalia.

July 12; 1100 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a welfare check on a pedestrian walking on the street at about 1:21 a.m. The individual was arrested on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Vandalism

July 9; 2500 block of Via Tejon
At some point between 6 p.m. July 8 and 8 a.m. July 9, someone broke a storefront window.

Warrant arrests

July 9; 3800 block of Palos Verdes Drive North
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 8 a.m. and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving on a suspended license and an outstanding warrant.

July 10; intersection of Via Valmonte and Palos Verdes Drive North
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 11:40 a.m. and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant.

July 12; 1300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 5:06 a.m. and arrested a passenger on three outstanding warrants.

July 12; intersection of Via del Monte and Via Rincon
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 11:37 p.m. and arrested a passenger on two outstanding warrants.

July 15; 200 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a passenger on an outstanding warrant at about 1:45 p.m.

Fire

July 11; 700 block of Via del Monte
Officers responded at about 3 p.m. to a residential fire believed to have been caused by a clothing iron. Nobody was injured.

Traffic offense

July 12; 3100 block of Via Campesina
Officers conducted a traffic stop at about 10:45 a.m. and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license.

Drunken driving

July 14; 1400 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Officers conducted a traffic stop at about 2:40 a.m. and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Vehicle registration fraud

July 15; 700 block Paseo del Mar
At about 1:15 a.m., officers investigating a violation of city code cited the registered owner of a vehicle for fraud.
