Palos Verdes Southern California Edison Customers Lose Power

RANCHO PALOS VERDES, CA — More than 50 residents lost power early Monday in the Palos Verdes area, Southern California Edison reports.

More than 1,000 Southern California Edison customers lost power across Los Angeles County early Monday, the company reports.

By 10:45 a.m. Monday at least 50 people were still without power in the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It's unclear when power will be restored in the area.

Rain, winds and snow were impacting the Southland, with more harsh weather in the forecast. A high wind and surf advisory were in effect in the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Scattered showers are expected Monday and again late Tuesday.

A winter storm warning was issued for the LA County mountains until 10 p.m. today, though the Santa Monica Mountains were excluded from the warning. Wind advisories are also in effect till 10 p.m. around the area.

The greatest rainfall amounts are expected across the central coast and eastern Los Angeles County. The amount of northwesterly flow will limit rainfall totals across Ventura County and western LA County.

In Orange County, widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected. In the mountains, heavy snow and wind are expected — about 4 to 8 inches above 45-hundred feet, and 2 to 4 inches
between 3-thousand and 45-hundred feet — with gusts expected to reach 65 miles an hour. Due to heavy snow, the I-5 was closed through the Grapevine, and it was unclear when it would reopen.
