PVE Residents No Longer Need to Sort Trash

Under a new contract with the city, Athens Services will separate recyclable items from other trash.

Palos Verdes Estates residents now can throw recyclable items such as soda cans and paper in with other trash and leave the sorting to the garbage company.

Under a new contract with the city that went into effect July 1, Athens Services will sort recyclables and refuse for single-family homes in Palos Verdes Estates.

Residents can still sort their garbage, using blue barrels for refuse or for recyclables. However, the new system will likely increase the amount of materials that can be recycled and reused, according to Public Works Director Allan Rigg.
