RHE Council to Consider Selection of City Stables Manager

The City Council will also discuss horse-keeping rules for residents and an ordinance regulating the parking of oversized vehicles.

The tonight will discuss several hot-button issues including future management of the Peter Weber Equestrian Center and residential horse-keeping codes.

After , the council will consider selection options for a concessionaire. Council members will discuss whether to choose one of two options for a concession operator tonight—either Scott Hill or Gil and Doreen Houle—and begin negotiations, or begin negotiations with both potential managers after which a management decision would be made by the council.

The council will also continue a public hearing on amendments to a residential horse-keeping code, which defines the permitted number of horses on properties in the city.

Discussions will also continue on amendments to an ordinance regulating the parking of oversized vehicles.

Council members are also scheduled to weigh the use of $175,000 in funds set aside in part for park beautification for improvements to the Howlett Park Equestrian Center including development of a new lunging arena, and replacement of bleachers and the dressage arena’s sprinkler system.
