Sheriff's Department: Take Suspicious Devices Seriously
Weeks after a grenade is found in Palos Verdes Estates, the Sheriff's Department urges people to call law enforcement officials if they find what they believe is an explosive device.

After recent grenade scares, including one last month in Palos Verdes Estates, is urging people to call law enforcement officials if they find what they believe is an explosive device.
People should take devices that look like grenades and other explosives seriously because sometimes they are exactly what they look like, said Capt. Mike Parker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
The sheriff's bomb squad removed a World War II grenade from a tool shed Friday in Monrovia. In May, along the Banyan Grove Trail at in Palos Verdes Estates.

People should call the bomb squad if they see something that looks suspicious, Parker said, but should never touch the device.
