Pasadena – August 2022. California’s fragile ecosystem and economic climate has local business owners like Kevin Oh and Christina Chung stepping up their support of Pasadenans.
The draught and brush fires alone have depleted the reserves of many area residents. Coupled with back-to-school safety and mega-flood concerns as well as escalating housing and food costs and other worries, many households are contending with mental exhaustion and burnout, according to the pair, who hope that residents will consider their store a community oasis and resource.

The serial entrepreneurs, who own and operate Pasadena’s only Your CBD Store, will celebrate the Grand Opening of their newest retail location on 2245 E. Colorado Blvd. on Saturday, Aug. 27.
With it, they will provide the first of a planned series of educational sessions to deliver helpful health hacks on sleep, relaxation and recovery-related issues.

They will welcome store visitors with a free gift, complimentary product trials, and a 30% Grand Opening day discount, according to the local business owners ,who say they plan to continue to offer free samples throughout the year.
Their mission is a deeply personal one, according to the pair.
Oh’s deep passion for wholistic medicine began in college where he developed a strong interest in philosophy and psychology and earned his BA.
His focus on the mind-body connection was “ever-present” throughout his professional life, which began with the formation of an import business and eventually led to his co-ownership of Your CBD Store, according to Oh.
“Your CBD Store is more than just a business to me; it’s a personal mission and crusade,” says Oh.
For Chung, wholistic health is ingrained in her family’s DNA. The daughter of licensed pharmacists reports that her parents were big believers in medicine. Her father chose the more traditional pharmaceutical path while her mother focused in on more natural solutions.
Both kept health center stage in the Chung household. Although Chung knew that she did not want to be involved in the pharma field, the licensed real estate agent was determined that health and wholistic medicine would remain a lifelong passion.

A MATTER OF TIME
Both relish the opportunity to serve the community and pour into their passion for wholistic health at a time when help is needed most.
“This summer has been particularly tough one, and fall isn’t anticipated to bring much in the way of relief of everyday household stressors,” says Oh.
“As our everyday challenges continue to rise, it’s more important than ever that we counter them with better quality sleep and develop more effective coping mechanisms,” adds Chung.

MAKE-UP SLEEP IS A MYTH
An Ocere Study on pandemic-related sleep trends revealed, on average, California residents lost nearly three hours of sleep nightly (20.9 hours weekly).
Many never “caught up,” according to Oh, who says that sleep is not a renewable resource.
“It’s not a commodity. Sleeping in a few extra weekends or catching more cat naps is not as restorative as many may think,” says Oh.
Sleep experts become concerned when three or more episodes of sleeplessness are reported over a month-long period. At this point, the experts give the condition a more formal label of insomnia.
Nearly 60% of Your CBD Store’s national customer base says sleep is their number one concern, according to the business owners.
The pair say that their location, which sits below a physical therapy center, also draws a significant number of customers looking for recovery products.

SAFEGUARDING SLEEP
“Something as essential to our overall health and well-being as sleep deserves protection,” says Oh, who says it’s helpful to practice preventative methods and, if more serious sleep issues develop, to address them before they become a chronic condition.
Stress and sleep are interrelated. Increased stressors tend to decrease sleep. Likewise decreased sleep tends to increase stress levels.
It’s a vicious cycle, according to the entrepreneur who says it’s not surprising that SUNMED’s scientifically tested Sleep Gummies with CBN are the store’s most popular product line.
Chung reports that sales of relaxing bath bombs and soaks are up as well, in addition to SUNMED’s award-winning tinctures and topicals, which are endorsed by the American Pickleball Association.
“Bottom line, it’s all about restoring balance,” Chung says. “Our CBD experts are committed to helping Pasadena residents discover helpful hacks to achieve everyday calm and restore their inherent sense of resilience.”
