Man Falls From Overpass To His Death On 210 Freeway

The westbound 210 Freeway was shut down overnight after a man fell to his death from the Lake Avenue overpass in Pasadena.

PASADENA, CA — A man was killed on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena when he fell from an overpass and was run over by vehicles, authorities said Monday.

The fatality was reported at 9:57 p.m. Sunday on the westbound Foothill Freeway at Lake Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Polizzi said.

The man was walking on the Lake Avenue overpass and climbed over the east side gate and onto the highway signs above the freeway, CHP Officer M. Garcia said. The man fell off the highway sign onto the No. 2 freeway lane.

The fall caused fatal injuries, Garcia said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released pending family notification.

All westbound lanes were shut down at 10:19 p.m. for the investigation and traffic was diverted off at Lake Avenue, he said. The HOV lane and fast lane were reopened about 1:15 a.m. and remaining westbound lanes reopened about 3:45 a.m.
