PUSD Gathers Donations For Fire Victims

Donations are being collected for 25 families affected by a Feb. 24 apartment complex fire.

Twenty-five Pasadena families who lost their homes and belongings after a fire raged through their apartment complex are getting some financial help from their local school district.

The Feb. 24 fire destroyed units at an apartment complex on the 700 block of N. Worchester Ave.

The Pasadena Unified School District and the Pasadena Educational Foundation are sending the families, including several PUSD students, monetary donations and retail and restaurant gift cards to support them as the recover from this financial blow.

The families are also receiving assistance from the American Red Cross and the city of Pasadena.

PUSD is offering food, clothing, toys, and transportation for school-age children to school. The Pasadena Housing Department and Friends in Deed are working to arrange long-term housing for those without help from families and friends.

A Fire Relief Fund has been set up through the Pasadena Educational Foundation to help fire victims with temporary housing costs, relocation assistance and other household needs.
